Yesterday I had the strongest craving for durian (thanks to one Red FM listener who went and put a picture of a gorgeous looking durian as her Facebook profile pic) that when my best buddy said he was game to have a durian session with me, I jumped at the chance!
We were both hungry – he hadn’t lunch and I hadn’t had dinner so we made our way to SS2 to fill our rumbling tummies with the King of Fruits!
We went to a place that had a banner saying www.durianss2.com
I like how the place is set up with the different variations of durian neatly aligned for display; there are ample tables and stools set up and there’s a sink to wash your hands in (too bad no soap, although no amount of soap can remove that smell off your fingers!).
When I came back from the sink, I found to my delight, a whole bunch of opened durian already waiting for me.
My buddy was so hungry, he didn’t even wait for me! But then again, when I saw how beautiful those durians looked, I couldn't blame him!
We also ordered coconut water each and it was the most delicious and sweetest coconut I’ve ever tasted!!! EVER!!
But it was when I took my first bite of durian that I truly felt I was in durian heaven. It was SO good to finally get to enjoy the wonderful, custardy, sweet, lemak taste of the durian after so long!!! I was grinning from ear to ear!! We polished off the durians, one segment after another. And that was our dinner! Let me tell you, coconut water doesn’t taste as nice after that!
As much as I love mangosteens, I was just too full after that but they certainly looked good!
Anyway, I puas hati oredi! Hee....

Well..here I have a tip for you on how to get rid of the durian smell on your fingers.Let the tap water run through the surface of the durian shell then you use the water to clean your hand. It's an effective way when there is no soup.=)
suke manggis!!!
Manggis + TOAL (Teh O Ais Limau) cools the durian "heat". Btw, kampung durian @ SS2 (the stall just outside McD; opens Mon nites during nite mkt) sells for RM6~8 a pop. Worth to take away for seconds...and thirds :-)
ah yoo, sorry lah, i tak boleh tahan already, the moment the workers popped the durian open, my tummy growled even louder (i think the next table heard it cos they had a funny look on their face) and i straight away reached for one and enjoyed the esctacy of it, hehe, sorry lah buddy,
BB
Good for you lady, sound to me you really had a good meal. What's the problem of washing your silky hands!Don't tell me it'll turn your hands in black other than the rest of your body.If that's really the case then I say you have a big price to pay for consuming those forbidden fruits. I have seen these fruits while during my service in the pacific, but never had a chance to try them.Should I say lucky me or what!My hands still white. Those fruits may be strange to me but it look as you mention is really great.I guess the name of it came with a reason King of fruits.Well,I like to say,you gain some but the same time you lose some isn't it fair to you. On another thought if I happen to see some of these fruits in China Town I swear, I won't get close to it, cause it'll turn my hands black after eating it. Question is why wasn't you guys been told before you ate it. Or should there be a bill posting saying eat with your own risk.(DD,you're a honey hope your hands color stay the same)the culprit should brought to justice. Good luck.
