JD and I are on a mini quest. This year, we are going to try and explore different bazaar Ramadhan’s based on our listeners suggestions. And we will decide which ones are the best – or worst – with our “lemang” scale.
Yesterday we opted to go to the one in Bangsar. On the lemang scale, it got a 1 out of 5. Not much variety, to be honest. You got the usual fare : roti john, nasi campur, ayam percik, murtabak…. But the murtabak line was so long that we decided not to go for it.
Then there was the man selling sotong bakar and ikan bakar. RM10 for a ‘small’ ikan pari and RM15 for a bigger one. The sotong was also RM15 which to me was a bit pricey to pay for one squid.
The ayam percik looked pretty good… very red though… JD andI bought one each anyway at RM5 a piece.
We were disappointed that the kuih-muih selection wasn’t as exciting as we hoped. I only ended up buying donuts – RM1.20 for three pieces.
JD was interested in the biryani gam, as he’d never heard of that before. But we decided against having rice for buka puasa coz we felt it was going to be too heavy – although it looked really good though!
Satay…. Otak-otak…. Burger…. Popiah basah…it really didn’t feel very inspiring as we walked through the street to check out what each of the stalls had to offer so I didn't feel the need to take that many pictures.. I'll take more, next time.
The drinks looked good though….
At the end of the day, JD and I both bought roti john ayam (good! RM5 a piece), sugarcane juice, he got mee rebus (which he said wasn’t that good), I got soto ayam (RM3.50 and tasty) and because I couldn’t resist, I bought the bubur durian which is currently still sitting in my fridge untouched coz by the time I was done with my soto ayam, I was quite full already. Guess it’ll be my dessert for tonite’s buka puasa.
So where’s our next destination? Section 14, PJ. Apparently people have been raving about it so we’re going to go there and check it out for ourselves and of course, take lots of pictures. How will it fare on the lemang scale? Watch this space!
