1st post of the year!

We're one week into the New Year - 2010 if u've been living under a rock - and I've been wondering whether it's necessary to have a resolution. I've generally been indifferent to the idea of coming up with resolutions as I've always felt that u shouldn't have to wait for a brand new year to do something about your life and two, that more often than not, people's resolution to lose weight, exercise more or quit smoking have conveniently been swept under the carpet of time - up until the next year comes looming. My theory is that when you take for granted that you have a whole year ahead of you to change, you tend to procrastinate and end up not doing anything about it.
Having reflected upon my experiences of the past year, I've come to see a pattern - no need to overly plan your week coz somehow or other, something comes up. And two, when you make little goals and you make a mental note of it AND you actually follow through, that little goal becomes a reality. I have to admit that my personal goals for last year have predominantly been of a materialistic nature. But at least when I come home, it's nice to know that all the big ticket items were things that I purchased with my own cash and no matter how long it took me to finally get them, the main thing is that I did. And to me, that's an accomplished goal.
