I haven’t been to a decent concert or gig in the longest time, but thanks to Red FM being the official radio station for This Feeling presents Stereophonics in KL Live at Life Centre, not only did I get to enjoy the Welsh boys’ rockin’ performance, but JD n I also were the emcees for the nite. But it being a rock concert, we didn’t want to waste the crowd’s time so we made it fast, ignited their excitement for the evening and threw out (literally ‘threw’) Red FM t-shirts to the audience...
...and around 5 mins later, Stereophonics came up on stage…
They actually decided to come out and perform 15 mins earlier than scheduled (how cool is that??) and for over 2 hours, these guys played song after song after song with only one short break towards the end. And yet, Kelly Jones’ voice was pitch-perfect throughout, and the guys still had so much energy to perform.
And the lighting that accompanied each song… Wow! What a sight. It just pulled each performance together. Already there are numerous videos posted up on Youtube so you can check out the show there.
The band played songs that were both familiar favourites and new tracks off their latest album, Keep Calm & Carry On. But it was of course the hit songs that were crowd pleasers, from Superman to my personal fave, Maybe Tomorrow but 2 hours later, everyone noticed how they had yet to play their most successful song, Dakota.
And Stereophonics didn’t disappoint. Kelly, after a quick introduction of the band and a birthday song for their keyboardist, announced their final song. “Dakota”. They had saved the best for last. The crowd went wild!!!! I was jumping in the back, clapping my hands, waving my arms and singing along to the chorus with everybody else. It was awesome. And the perfect ending to a great gig.
I was tired and sleepy. It was way past my curfew. My eyes were stinging from the cigarette smoke all around. But I came away happy and satisfied from what Stereophonics had to serve up.
Thanks for coming to Malaysia, guys!
