Reebok ZigTech Launch

Reebok has come out with a brand new set of fancy-schmansy shoes they call the Reebok ZigTech which, because of the “zig-zag” shape of its soles, is said to ease the load on your leg muscles by 20% when running.

JD and I were invited to the Reebok ZigTech launch at Blackbox, Solaris Dutamas where they revealed to us the wonders of the ZigTech shoes through their tv and online ad campaigns. Apparently “This unique zig-shaped sole absorbs the impact of heel strike and sends a wave of energy along the length of the shoe to help propel the athlete forward with each step.”

Check out one of their ads:

And guess what? Yours truly has her very own pair!

It’s very light and I feel that when I walk or run, they feel very springy which is great coz now when I run, I don’t feel that uncomfortable jarring feeling in my knees . I like that I can bounce around in them now.

And they come in some truly bold and eye-catching colours - the black and yellow pair that JD has are ones that you can definitely spot from a distance cos they’re so bright!

At the launch, they had a dark room where they gave each of us a mini-LED torchlight and we were to draw on our creativity to make zig-zag lines or whatever shapes in the air in five seconds in front of the camera.

At the end, they presented us with our picture where you could see the exact shape or writing lit up in the air in front of us. So cool!! They had a contest where the one with the best drawing would win a pair of Reebok ZigTech shoes. A guy called John cleverly drew an abstract of the ZigTech shoe and so he walked away the winner. Here were my attempts:

At less than RM400, they’re available in Reebok outlets now so do check them out for yourself!

Jukari - Fit to Flex

Last week I got an invitation from Reebok to go to Chi Fitness to try out something called Jukari – Fit to Flex.

I’m all for trying out new ways to workout so I turned up for the event, curious to know what it was all about. Now some time last year, I had tried out the revolutionary Cirque du Soleil’s Jukari – Fit to Fly workout, which really got my heart pumping and my sweat glands working overtime.

I learned that the Jukari – Fit to Flex, however, was a low-impact workout, meant to improve ones flexibility. According to the description I found online: “JUKARI Fit to Flex is a brand-new workout experience created by Reebok and Cirque du Soleil, specially designed to improve your flexibility by increasing joint mobility and stability while boosting muscle endurance and core strength in a new, dynamic way. JUKARI Fit to Flex features vibrant, flowing movement patterns inspired by Cirque du Soleil’s imaginative and graceful style fused with Reebok’s expertise in fitness. The class will help tone and firm your entire body, targeting your butt, hips, thighs, arms, abs and entire core, letting you experience the joy of movement!”

Each of us were given a bright, yellow band with a ball inserted through it at each end. Called the Jukari Band, it’s made of a light-weight, elastic which is supposed to provide some gentle assistance while you’re doing the moves so you can stretch your body even further during the workouts.

Our official Fit-to-Flex trainer that day was a lovely lady called Vinata Shetty who talked us through the workout. It would be hard for me to explain the different moves so check out this video to get an idea :

If you can’t exert yourself too much, this is the best workout for you as it’s low impact and involves lots of stretching and for those who do like to exercise a lot, Jukari Fit to Flex is great for stretching and warming-up before your next workout.
