Bazaar Ramadhan - Section 14, PJ

Day Two of Ramadhan, JD and I went to the pasar Ramadhan in Section 14, PJ nearby to Digital Mall and the mosque. It was my first time there and it was as impressive as our listeners said it was! It was already packed with people by the time we arrived...

And one of the first things I saw was a stall selling the famous popiah basah. The makcik there was in the midst of preparing her popiahs... this particular stall didn't have a lot of people lining up behind it yet so I was able to get a clear shot of it. The popiah stall after that, however, was so packed with eager shoppers that I couldn't take a proper picture Even the murtabak stall was full of people patiently waiting for their choice of beef or chicken murtabaks.

I'm not much of a fan of popiah basah to be honest so I explored the other stalls further. Check out this delicious looking display of ayam madu chicken wings!

And this basket full of ayam goreng berempah with curry leaves!

"Terima kasih daun keladi...." Air keladi, anyone? That's a first for me, that's for sure! It looked too purple for me so I didn't get it.

But one of the main reasons we were there was to try the amazing ikan bakar that we've been hearing so much about...

Look for these two guys next time...

Check out the sambal chilli on that thing! You can almost smell it!

Fans of kerang will definitely be salivating over this!

Doesn't this want to make you say "WOW!!!"

I was surprised when I realised that the pasar practically went the whole way round the playground there... there were just so many stalls and different foods to choose from! But I told myself to be careful and not overdue it like I did the night before... I didn't even buy the otak-otak...

But I can tell you I was sooooooooooo tempted to try the grilled lamb! I was buying my soya milk drink next to it and the smell was so overwhelming!! I could practically smell the Worchestershire sauce in the marinade as it was being cooked. It was going for RM15 a piece...

... and at the same stall, you can even choose to get pasta made for you right on the spot!

At the end of the day, I walked away with a packet of laksa utara (RM3), ikan pari bakar (RM5) and soya milk (RM2) to break fast with. I was very happy with everything I bought - the laksa, though watery, was still tasty and the ikan bakar was the bomb! The sambal chilli it was cooked with was SO GOOD and the accompanying asam sauce was perfect!!

We give Section 14, PJ 4 out of 5 on the lemang scale! (We would've given it 5 if only the kuih selection was better...)
