Hair again - gone tomorrow!

As I'm typing this, I'm actually getting my hair steamed and treated. After almost a year of absence, I'm back at my favourite hair salon, Cu's and Do's over in Solaris, getting my hair Raya-ready once again. The original plan was to get my hair recoloured and permed, but Yen, my fave hair stylist, said that I can only do it after three months. Ah well...

Cu's and Do's has expanded! They took over the spa upstairs and now they have a floor dedicated for customers who want to get their hair coloured/permed/rebonded. Since these things take up hours (in my case I was there for 5!), customers can now enjoy some privacy upstairs...

They even have a little balcony for you to sit and chill out in

A custom-made water fountain sits right in front of the chairs above

...away from the hustle and bustle downstairs which is now dedicated to hair cuts and hair treatments - and of course, those who want a manicure & pedicure done for them.

And one of the added features is that they have Wi-Fi available so they lend Toshiba laptops for their customers to use. Customers like me! ;)

This is me before with my lack lustre hair which needs trimming. My original roots are showing and is in desperate need of another makeover.

After a light wash, Yen trims my hair. Locks of my hair cut off...

Stage 1...

Now for the colour... they're using a brand called Majirel from the L'oreal Professional line. So I opted for the second combination... the base is darker than the one I had last time and the highlights are lighter.

Ok, so first the highlights go on....

then the base colour...

My head gets wrapped with cellophane...

After something like half an hour, my hair gets a proper shampoo wash and then they apply toner through my hair to tone down the colouring and balance it out. After 15 minutes  (I'm guessing coz I fell asleep), my hair gets washed again and then they apply treatment cream. My head is put in the steamer for 15 minutes...

... and then my hair gets another thorough rinse.

Finally my hair gets blow dried...

And this is the final result...

Right now, Cu's & Do's is having a promotion where for RM199  you get colour + hair cut + treatment. And for RM238 you get perm + cut  and 50% discount on hair treatment. You'd better hurry though because they're ending this just before Raya but you can call to make enquiries and appointments at 012-313 1226 or 012-312 3884 and speak to Yen personally.

Bazaar Ramadhan - Kota Damansara

Last Sunday, JD & I decided to check out the Bazaar Ramadhan over in Kota Damansara. And we weren't disappointed. The last time I was there was during last year's fasting month and this time round, they have gotten bigger and better with even more stalls selling all manner of local favourites. I was delighted to have found a putu piring stall so naturally I went to order some for myself (RM2 for 5 pieces). Turns out that both men recognised me from my visit to their stall in the Kampung Sg. Penchala bazaar!

The man in blue said that he remembered me coz I had asked him to hold a plate of putu piring while I took a picture and the men also recognised me thanks to the Sunday Metro article in The Star. One customer had specifically turned up at their Sg. Penchala stall because she saw the article! JD & I were as pleased as punch when we found out!

A bazaar Ramadhan just wouldn't be one if it didn't have all those colourful drinks to sell... I have yet to try this "air keladi" or yam drink one of these days. I'm intrigued - but it's so PURPLE!

Now one of the things that makes this pasar one of the better ones was it's variety of kuih-muih... here's just some that I came across...

Ayam percik is a must as these places...

More drinks...

Otak-otak...

Check out the different types of lepat they have here! Pisang... ubi... labu... liat...

This makcik's stall has a whole lot of different kuih for you to choose from....

There were so many people gathered round this particular stall that I couldn't get in to take a picture. Apparently it was chicken rice. It must be damn good chicken rice to have this many people surrounding it!

The usual suspects... murtabak...

Satay...

More drinks...

And more kuih!

This fella's happy I took his picture and his stall of drinks!

Kampung style fried chicken in curry leaves...

Now here's something unusual... it's some kind of springy potato chips!

I should've bought some lah that day...

Lately I've been seeing a lot of these Rojak Singapore stalls...

Your choice of ingredients...

Another common sight at the bazaars - creme caramel...

Popiah basah in the making...

More dessert including DJ Hazim's favourite - Lompat Tikam (on the far right)

You can't miss a signboard like this!

Freshly-made murtabak...

Another familiar sight.... BBQ Chicken Wings. This time round I decided to buy one and it was absolutely delish! I'll definitely get more next time.

This place gets a 4 out of 5 on the lemang scale thanks to it's variety of desserts.
